Notary Public and Commissioner for taking Affidavits with 20 years’ experience providing legal services in residential property management, including an outstanding record litigating cases before the Landlord & Tenant Board, Small Claims Court, and the Ontario Court of Justice.
Ms. Barder offers legal expertise in Landlord & Tenant, Small Claims Court. and Provincial Offence matters for reasonable set fees. Ms. Barder is a Notary Public and A Commissioner for Taking Affidavits in and for the Courts of Ontario. During the pandemic, Ms. Barder is fully licensed to commission affidavits remotely for the courts in and for the Court of Ontario.
After providing you with (no-charge, no obligation) summary legal advice over the telephone, Ms. Barder, upon your request, will schedule you in for a consultation where she will analyze the substantive issues of your case and provide you with a preliminary legal strategy and an accurate estimate of her set fees for drafting documents and attending court hearings (“Set Fees for Document Preparation and Litigation”). The Set fee for Documentation Preparation and Litigation quoted also includes one full hour of time spent for additional activity on your case (“One-hour Inclusive Time”), including conferences, telephone calls, voicemail, meetings, e-mail, legal advise and opinion, legal memoranda, research and travel time (“Additional Activity”). Additional Activity, exceeding the One-hour Inclusive Time (records are kept in our time keeping system) a standard hourly rate of $75.00 is charged to the nearest (1) minute for Additional Activity (for example a one minute incoming telephone call of the client or a one-minute-read email from the client is charged at the rate of $1.50). Each hour billed to you, after the One- hour Inclusive Time, is based on actual Additional Activities completed on your particular case.
Clients are also responsible for disbursements (out-of-pocket expenses) which include couriers, printing, photocopying, or scanning of paper documents at 25 cents per page, black and white and 60 cents per page for colour copies, parking, long distance telephone calls, postage and court filing fee (“Disbursements”) These items are shown separately on our accounts, and are charged to you at cost, in addition to the Set Fees for Document Preparation and hourly rate for Additional Activity.
